Muisti Centre of War and Peace in Mikkeli is a modern museum which examines the effects of war from the perspective of human experience. The interactive exhibition at Muisti enables you to understand what war felt like for those who were confronted by it, how it affected society at the time, and how it still affects it today. Winter War battlefield VR is one of the main attractions of the exhibition. The experience takes you in the middle of Winter war and shows you what it was like to be on the frontline. The virtual reality experience is based on the battles between Finland and the Soviet Union in Summa on the Karelian isthmus.

“The VR experience has been one of the absolute favorites of the audience. The experience has evoked feelings from side to side in the exhibition guests. Some customers find the experience very distressing and awful, while others have commented on it as gorgeous or wonderful. This means we have evoked exactly the feelings and thoughts we wanted. The authenticity and visual look of the experience has been praised. In the experience, the exhibition guests have reacted differently to the fragments and bullets flying. Some of them shelter behind sandbags almost automatically, while others remain in disbelief to stand in enemy fire. The experience of the latter, of course, ends short.”
